Rep. Michael Grimm (R-NY) will plead guilty to one felony charge of tax evasion, the New York Daily News reported on Monday.

Grimm is expected to plead guilty at a court hearing on Tuesday at the federal court in Brooklyn.

The news comes after Grimm was charged in April with 20 felony counts for allegedly concealing more than $1 million in wages and sales at the restaurant he co-owned in Manhattan. He was also charged with hiring undocumented immigrants.

Grimm initially pleaded not guilty to all the charges. He was re-elected in November and vowed to fight the case against him.

Grimm made headlines earlier this year when he was caught on camera threatening to throw a television reporter off a balcony.

  1. Are felons allowed to remain in Congress?

  2. The House should censure him and ask that he resign.

    But he’s a right-wing Republican, so that won’t happen.

  3. Yes, and not paying taxes is pretty much the reason behind the GOP movement IMO.

Uh, oh…similar crime as Eric Garner! OBEY THE LAW. DON’T RESIST ARREST.

  5. That’s why so many of the far-right faithful refer to taxation as “legalized theft by the government.”

I prefer Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes opinion of taxes:

“I like taxes; for with them, I purchase civilization.”
